Melike Altınışık Architects - MAA is a leading international architecture practice with offices based in Istanbul, Turkey and Seoul, South Korea. Sebnem Yucel’s research focuses on current topics with a critical historical agenda. She questions the representation of places and buildings, and concentrates on the modernization in non-western contexts.  Her teaching in architectural history and theory anchors around the reconfiguration of keywords like modern, metropole and region and aims to highlight dynamic cultural and disciplinary conditions within increasingly global practices that are embedded in localities. She is currently teaching at MEF University’s Architecture Department and serving as the dean of the Faculty of Arts, Design and Architecture.

Sevince Bayrak, founder SO? Architecture & Ideas, Turkey

Sevince Bayrak is the co-founder of SO? Architecture and Ideas. Their realized projects include SUPRA, in Daegu, South Korea; Unexpected Hill at the Royal Academy of Arts, London; Lost Barrier at MAXXI, Rome; as well as a modular chicken coop, the adaptive reuse of a cultural center, and the repurposing of a swimming pool in Türkiye. She has been working at MEF University as an associate professor.

Alvin Huang, founder Synrhesis-DNA, USA

Alvin Huang is an award-winning architect, designer, and educator. He is the Founder and Principal of Synthesis Design + Architecture (SDA), an internationally recognized practice working across architecture, urbanism, and design research, with projects spanning Asia, the Middle East, Europe, and North America. His work explores the intersection of advanced geometry, cultural narratives, and research-driven design, translating experimental ideas into built form. Huang is also an Associate Professor and Director of Graduate and Post-Professional Architecture at the University of Southern California, where he has taught since 2011. His work has been widely published and exhibited, and he has received over 50 national and international awards. He is a frequent lecturer at institutions and conferences worldwide, speaking on architecture.

Co-Moderator: Birgul Colakoğlu, Istanbul Technical University-Facutly of Architecture

Birgül Çolakoğlu completed her PhD in Design and Computation at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) in 2000 and worked as a postdoctoral researcher in the MIT Department of Architecture in 2001. She was affiliated with Yıldız Technical University (YTU) from 2001 to 2015, where she also led the Computational Design Graduate Program between 2008 and 2015. At Istanbul Technical University (ITU), she served as Head of the Department of Architecture from 2018 to 2021 and coordinated the Master’s in Architecture graduate program from 2016 to 2023. In 2020, she founded the Circularity in Built Environment Research Group at ITU under the ITU Advanced Studies in Architecture Center, where she serves as Director. She is currently a Professor in the Architectural Design and Computing Program at ITU.

Yiğit Alp, Founder of Ro-Lab Studio, Turkey, Turkey

Rolab Studio is an experimental design and fabrication practice focused on the fusion of robotics, parametric design, and advanced manufacturing. The studio develops largescale robotic 3D printing workflows and custom production techniques to create furniture, lighting, spatial installations, and architectural components. Its work explores new material behaviors, expressive geometries, and efficient fabrication methods, aiming to rethink how objects and spaces are conceived and produced. By combining computational design with hands-on prototyping, Rolab positions itself as a laboratory for future-oriented design where technology becomes both a creative tool and a production medium.

Presentation: Printing Space: From Digital Geometry to Robotic Matter

Oğul Öztunç, co-founder Piknik Works Architecture & Design Services, Turkey

Piknik Works is a multidisciplinary design studio based in Istanbul and Vienna. The studio develops projects at the intersection of architecture, art and design; drawing inspiration from the creative mechanisms of the 21st century and engaging deeply with both timeless and contemporary visual and spatial culture. Piknik Works has exhibited its work internationally and has been recognized with numerous national and international awards. Kesra Mansuri, co-founder Solidified Design, Turkey

Architect and designer with a strong interest in philosophy and mechanics. Kesra studied architecture at the University of Illinois and Pratt Institute in the United States. Before co-founding Soldified Design, he has worked at experimental design studios such as SoftLAB and TheVeryMany, focusing on computational design and digital fabrication. He regularly gives lectures and workshops at various universities and organizations on computational design and advanced fabrication workflows. His research centers on algorithmic design strategies, digital manufacturing techniques, and the development of custom fabrication processes
